How Big Is The Titanic Compared To Cruise Ships Today

Titanic vs. Modern Cruise Ships: Size Comparison

Smaller than you think

Despite the increase in ship sizes over the years, the difference in length between the Titanic and many modern cruise ships is not as great as one might expect. The Titanic was 882 feet 9 inches long and had a passenger capacity of 2,435. In comparison, many modern cruise ships are over 1,000 feet long and can accommodate over 5,000 passengers. However, the Titanic was a much narrower ship than modern cruise ships, so its overall size was smaller.

Carnival Cruise Lines

The difference in size between the Titanic and Carnival Cruise Lines' ships is even smaller. Carnival's largest ship, the Carnival Magic, is 1,013 feet long and has a passenger capacity of 4,000. This means that the Carnival Magic is only 130 feet longer than the Titanic and can accommodate only 1,565 more passengers.
